Biography

August Pyttlik II was born on 7 December 1905 to August Pyttlik and Ida Emma Hildebrand of Gladbeck, Germany. He married Erna Emma Grabenstein, who already had a  son named Adolf Heinrich Wilhelm. The father was not known.

At some point before July 1934, August changed the spelling of the family name from ‘Pyttlik’ to ‘Pytlik’. Erna’s son Adolf adopted the Pytlik name on 16 July 1934, probably due to the marriage of the couple.

August and Erna went on to have at least three more children together. Their daughter Anneliese passed away after a short illness at the age of 21. August’s adopted son Adolf eventually moved to Canada to start a new life after World War II.
